Paul Kitching Cause of Death, How Did He Die?

Paul Kitching, who co-owned the popular 21212 restaurants with Katie O’Brien, passed away brutally and unexpectedly.

At this time, nothing is said about the causes of his death. Plans for the funeral could be revealed later.

I’m sorry to say the love of my life has passed away, Katie stated in a social media post on December 15, 2022. People expressed their sympathy and remembered Paul with speed.

“Paul was such a great person – incredibly gifted, insanely creative, but he had time to chat to everyone and to listen,” one person commented. It was an honour to work with and get to know him.”

“Paul, who was actually a part of the creation of me and my style, served as my last head chef before I ventured out on my own. My sympathies go out to everyone who loved him and thought of him as one of the greats. He will be sorely missed.”

Paul was raised in Gateshead and began his professional career in an American Latin restaurant there. He later relocated to York to work as a commis chef, where he discovered his love and skill for cooking. In his early twenties, he worked in Michelin-starred kitchens, including Restaurant 74 and Gidleigh Park, before earning his star with his restaurant, Juniper.

In Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace, Paul and Katie founded 21212 in 2009. Since then, the eatery has won numerous accolades, including Best New Restaurant in the UK, a Michelin star between 2009 and 2019, four AA rosettes, and the title of Catering in Scotland’s Restaurant of the Year. Paul has received the Prince Philip medal for his contributions to the catering sector.

Paul Kitching has been referred to as “pure talent, driven by a strong creative energy; a dynamo of the north” by Gordon Ramsay and “Paul Kitching is on more than nodding terms with genius,” according to food critic Jay Rayner.
