Nompilo Dlamini, 29 years old-Switzerland-born influential figure, died on 30th October after a long battle with chronic lung disease ‘Cystic Fibrosis’. The news of her death was announced on her Instagram page, stating that she died peacefully in her sleep.

Nompilo Dlamini was a school teacher and left her job in 2021 after she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. She got attention from the public when she asked for a donation of R2 million in 2021 to go to India for a lung transplant.
The person who played an integral part in raising a fund for Nompilo Dlamini was South African music icon Casper Nyovest. Casper Nyovest himself donated R150 000 dollars to Nompilo and also started a #saveNompilo campaign to raise money for her international trip and lung transplant, due to which people also came up with big donations to help Nompilo. Casper also asked for donations to Drip founder Lekau Sehoana and donated R100 000. Nompilo faced serious complications after she reached there and couldn’t get a lung transplant.
In June, she shared on her Instagram page her health update in which she revealed that her disease had reached the end stage, which showed the worsening of her cystic fibrosis.
Nompilo’s battle with cystic fibrosis was marked by several hospital visits, procedures, and treatment, but she faced each challenge with resilience and bravery. She used her social media platforms to bring attention to the reality of living with this chronic disease.
