American actress Nichelle Nichols (pictured), famous for playing the character Lieutenant Uhura, in Star Trek ( Star Trek), died on Saturday night (30), at the age of 89. According to her son Kyle Johnson, she passed away from natural causes.

Through Facebook, her son Kyle Johnson shared a photograph in which the Hollywood star appears with the actress’s name and a bouquet of flowers that accompanied the message about Nichols’ death.
“I am sorry to inform you that great light in the sky no longer shines for us as it has for so many years. Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and died.”
Johnson reported that her funeral would be a meeting with family and close people, in addition to requesting that the privacy of her close ones be respected during mourning.
