According to the statement of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, on 22 December at around 12:30 p.m., the missing person report was filed about Nathan Reid.

He was driving to work at the Port Arthur plant and did not show up to work, which worried his colleagues and family about his whereabouts.

Since he went missing, the search authorities widely secured the area and worked tirelessly to locate Nathan Reid. They also urged people for their assistance if they had any information related to the whereabouts of Nathan.

The extensive search of the authorities took a tragic turn when they found Nathan Reid in a vehicle that was sinking underneath the water in a river. According to the reports, Nathan Reid, who was a 32-year-old citizen of Vidor, Texas, has passed away in a tragic accident that occurred on 4 Oak Ranch Road close to Loving Drive.

Texas Department of Public Safety stated that Nathan Reid’s vehicle was driving his Ford F-150 pickup truck and going in the North direction on 4 Oaks Ranch Road. He failed to navigate the curve ahead and collided with the barrier, submerging his vehicle in the Neches River.

Authorities’ response

Law enforcement officers swiftly reached the location when they got the reports of a vehicle in the water and discovered Reid dead in the car, who had been missing since 22 December. Later, justice of peace reached the scene and declared Reid dead.

Captain Joey Jacobs of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office revealed after the investigation at the scene that Nathan Reid’s vehicle had lost its control while taking a curve, which caused the collision and submerged into the river.

A dive team from Port Arthur was sent to the location to confirm that the car belonged to Nathan Reid. Nathan’s family members and friends who knew the route he takes while going to work had also come across the vehicle for further confirmation

The matter is still being investigated to identify the circumstances or any foul play in the tragic incident
