Melissa Maynard, a Cave Creek, Arizona resident, has gone missing, and authorities have called the search off. After Melissa was discovered dead in the West Cave Creek desert, the hunt for her was halted, according to law enforcement authorities.
After failing to return from walking her two dogs on Monday night, Melissa was reported missing.
After many hours of searching in the bushes, the search crew discovered the deceased Paradise Valley Community College graduate. According to investigators, her dogs were discovered to be safe and unharmed.
Jeealee Maynard, the sister of Melissa, posted on her Facebook that her sister had gone to walk the dogs in Downtown Cave Creek the previous evening and had never returned. Please message me if you have seen her or these dogs. Authorities are trying to locate her.
A tribute to Melissa Maynard:
Today around lunchtime, we were made aware a past employee and friend were reported missing.
A group of us from Partners Dog Training School and some former staff drove to the area and assisted with searching for her.
About an hour in, we were advised that she had been found. Tragically she passed. One of her dogs was found nearby. We then spent a couple of hours searching the mountain and desert west of Cave Creek, and around 5 pm were able to locate and recover her other dog. Both dogs appear uninjured.
We could spend a few minutes with her family and pass on our condolences.
Melissa was an amazing young woman who loved her dogs. She worked hard to become an instructor and always loved to help the really tough ones. She was extremely motivated to help clients and never gave up. She was also a great teammate to us all.
