At the moment neither Duffy’s family nor Primal Scream have wanted to issue any official statement in this regard, which means that the causes of his death remain unknown. Meanwhile, music figures such as Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre, the writer and journalist Peter Paphides, and the multidisciplinary artist Justin Robertson have wanted to express their incredulous sadness at the terrible news.
The musician grew up in Birmingham and joined the indie group Felt when he was 16 years old. Martin Duffy brought a baroque touch to his majestic compositions. He entered the Creation Records orbit when Felt signed to Alan McGee’s label.
They convinced him to join Primal Scream. He initially participated as a guest in the studio before becoming a full-time member. His innate musicality and his ability suited the band perfectly.
