Luz Hernandez Death: Obituary, Cause Of Death, Funeral

Authorities have identified a 33-year-old Jersey City woman who went missing on February 6.

Near Central Avenue and Third Street in Kearny, Luz Hernandez’s body was found around 4:55 p.m. in “what seemed to be a shallow grave.” Hudson County’s prosecutor, Esther Suarez, made a statement on February 7. The demise is thought to be suspicious. The Cause and Manner of Death will be determined by the results from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

When Hernandez failed to arrive for work at the BelovED Charter School on Monday, school authorities filed a missing person report. She may have gone missing since Saturday, according to speculation. The Kearny location was discovered after the Jersey City Police Department checked on Hernandez’s status on Van Horne Street on Tuesday afternoon. Hernandez was declared dead at the site at 4:53 p.m. when her corpse was found a little while later.

The state Regional Medical Examiner’s Office’s conclusions about the cause and manner of death are pending. As a mark of respect, BelovED Charter School was closed on Wednesday. Counsellors are available for instructors and kids, according to Bret Schunder, founder of BelovED.

People admired her. Hernandez, who began working at the school as a teacher’s assistant in 2017, was a lovely coworker, according to Schundler. The BelovED community cherished her. People are inconsolable over this.

The Jersey City Police Department and the Kearny Police Department are assisting the Homicide Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in their investigation of this case. Hernandez would be Hudson County’s sixth death in 2023.

The family might in the future give more details about the funeral services.
