In a tragic turn, Kevin Kane, the husband of recognized Portside Real Estate Realtor Lauren Reid, passed away, leaving the South Portland neighborhood saddened.
On August 23, 2023, the Kane family received the shocking news that Kevin had killed himself. After learning the terrible news, the family is in ruins, and the neighborhood is mourning.
It was reported that Kevin Kane, a devoted and loving husband and father of two, committed suicide and left this world. Although the precise reason for his suicide isn’t made public, he is believed to have long-term mental illness and depression.
His death and obituary were announced through a social media post by his wife, Lauren Reid Kane, that states:
“We lost our Kevin.
We are wrapped up in the strength of you all. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for everyone’s efforts to be there for our family.
It is so hard to write these words, but it is essential to share them right away:
Kevin’s funeral will be held at Holy Cross in South Portland this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Hobbs Funeral Home on Cottage Street in South Portland immediately following.

Portland, Maine, was the birthplace and home of Kevin Kane. He completed his education at Portsmouth High School before attending Northeastern University to earn a degree in graphic design. Later, he attended the University of Canterbury in New Zealand as part of a study abroad program.
He was a former vice president and brand manager for creative services at TD before moving on to FairPoint Communications. He was also a managing partner at Blaze Partners.
He was married to Lauren Reid Kane, a Portside Real Estate Group realtor, co-owner, co-director, and real estate agent/salesperson of Maineiax Lacrosse Club.
Kevin and his wife lived in a lovely home and were incredibly devoted to their two wonderful children.
