The showbiz world is mourning the loss of renowned former actress and TV host Jaymee Joaquin, famed for her game show ‘Games Uplate Live’. The actress lost her life after a prolonged battle with breast cancer.

Who was Jaymee Joaquin?

Jaymee Joaquin, also known as Jaymee Geronimo Topacio and Jaymee Wins, was born on July 27 1979, in San Juan, Metro Manila. She was a Filipino actress, model, TV show host, author and social media content creator. During her early years, she pursued her career as a TV and print commercial model in the Philippines and served as a host and event promoter.

In 2016, Jaymee’s life took a sad turn as she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. She got treatment from Moore’s cancer centre in San Diego, California. Throughout her cancer journey, she shared her experiences on her YouTube channel, Jamay Wins, to spread awareness and become a role model for those suffering from the same disease. Her faith in god and determination to battle cancer succeeded her in becoming cancer-free in 2018, but her cancer came back in 2019 and for the third time in 2020 and took her life on October 18, Wednesday, at 44. The news of her passing was declared by her friend Fides VA on social media.

The actress last updated about her health on August 26 and thanked everyone for praying.

After struggling and auditioning for the modelling field, she was able to be part of ABS-CBN Star Magic, a firm for artist management. She was offered various supporting roles for soaps, movies, sitcoms, and TV shows. But in 2006, she was recognized as a host for a daily midnight game show named ‘Games Uplate Live. She was famous for her tagline that says ‘kabagang’. With her immense dedication and struggle as a game show host, she was nominated as the best host in 2007 for the PMPC Star Awards. She hosted many live events, and in September 2008, she was elected as a cover girl of Playboy Philippines. From 2006 to 2010, she remained recognized as one of the sexiest celebrities by FHM Philippines.

Jamie left showbiz to pursue her studies in communication and tourism from Sydney, Australia, for almost 2 years, after which she moved to Spain to serve as an English teacher until 2015.
