Janis Gaye, a stylist, director, and novelist who was Marvin Gaye’s second wife and the subject of several of his songs, passed away on December 3 at her home in Rhode Island.
She was 66- time-old age, survived by her family Mark Gaillard, family Shawnn Monteiro, children Nona and Frankie, and grandchild Nolan Pentz. The public isn’t informed of the cause of death. The burial plans were not bandied in any depth.
Her friends and cousins are all mourning her loss and posting homage and condolences on social media.
Janis Hunter Gaye, introduced to Marvin during the recording of” Let’s Get It On,” was born on January 6, 1956. She’s the son of Barbara Hunter and the musician, Slim Gaillard.
The songster-musician Slim Gaillard, whose songs included” Flat bottom Floogie ( With a Floy Floy),” was the father of Hunter Gaye. She also oversaw Nona Gaye’s career as an actress and songster, who has appeared in two Matrix flicks and Ali and Crash.
During a 1973 recording session at Hitsville West in Los Angeles for his reader Let’s Get It On, the songster was introduced to Hunter Gaye by patron Ed Townsend. At the time, Gaye was married to Berry Gordy’s family Anna Gordy; Hunter Gaye was 17, and he was 34.
Gaye recorded the song” Jan” for his 1974 reader Marvin Gaye Live! and devoted it to his unborn woman; his 1976 reader I Want You has been called” a novelettish and voluptuous ode” to her. She sang provisory lyrics on his 1977 disco single” Got to Give It Up,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That time, they got hitched.
Her family claims that Hunter Gaye put together the fabulous ensemble that Gaye wore for his memorable 1974 musical performance at the Oakland Coliseum, which included a red watch cap, a rounded denim shirt, and tableware red-bejeweled platform thrills.
Gaye is estimated to be worth$1.4 million in terms of means and net worth, as is her partner.
