Tributes:

“Jamil A. Hawes, RIP, brother! Heavy heart tonight about hearing about your passing. I remember line dancing at Coyote Joe and you showing everyone up! It was always a blast with you. I am praying for your beautiful family! You will be truly missed. Awesome Dad, classmate, and friend. God Speed, Jamil.”

“Jamil A. Hawes, I can’t believe this man. You had such a kind soul. You were always laughing and smiling from ear to ear, which meant the people around you were too. When you came to North Buncombe, we all got warned of how big of a hitter you were on the baseball field. But that didn’t stop me from robbing you of a home run with my plastic glove 😂 Not long after that, you, Payton, Richard, me, and Cody used to ride our bikes all through Weaverville, just finding stuff to do. Even after us growing up and becoming adults, you have always been there if I needed it. One of the last times I saw you, you greeted me with a big hug and told me how good I looked. These are the memories I will never forget. Hold it down up there for us until we can all be together again. Love you, big man, rest easy.”
