Earlier in July, he was admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta to treat a serious illness.
The news of his passing was announced on his official Facebook post; the post read, “Singer, Songwriter, Bass Innovator, Music Producer, Father, and Son Michael Henderson has peacefully made his transition surrounded by family and loved ones today at his home, Atlanta Georgia…,” the post read. “Bless his heart and soul… He touched the lives of many and returned that love through his many live concerts, music recordings, social media, interviews, and constant touring, which he loved….”
Henderson was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and was raised in Detroit. His birth date was July 7, 1951; as of 2022, he was 71 years old. Not much is known about his early life and career. We have no information regarding his parents.
He shared the honour of bassist with Miles Davis on certain albums. Moreover, he also did vocals for Norman Connor’s “Valentine Love” and “You Are My Starship.” In his extensive career, he released several solo albums, the list beginning with 1976’s Gold. to his final solo album in 1986’s Bedtime Stories.
