How Did Dan Mccafferty Die? Scottish Vocalist Cause Of Death

The voice of all Nazareth’s greatest hits, Dan McCafferty, has passed away today, November 8 at 12:40 p.m., as reported by Pete Agnew, bassist and only active member of those who founded the legendary Scottish hard rock band.

The cause of death has not yet been revealed. Dan announced that he was leaving Nazareth in 2013 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), although he still released the album ‘Rock ‘n’ roll Telephone’ with them in 2014, which is why he offered his last interview to this house, conducted by Juan Destroyer and published in La Heavy nº365.

The singer told him the reason for his departure from the group: “My health problem started about four years ago, but it was last year when things got worse, and on a couple of occasions, one in Canada and one in Switzerland, I had to leave the stage. It was in Switzerland precisely where I decided to leave it for good because I felt that I was not being honest either with the fans or with my own colleagues. He could sing for half an hour, but he wouldn’t even make it to an hour and a half, and you have to stop when you’ve already lost much of your potential.

In his statement, Pete expressed himself in these terms:

“This is the saddest announcement I have ever had to make. Maryann and her family have lost a wonderful husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers that ever lived.

Too sad to say anything else at this point.”

Gone is the voice of “Hair of the Dog”, “Razamanaz” or his mythical version of The Everly Brothers “Love Hurts”. McCafferty released the album Last Testament’ in 2019, his third solo album and first since 1987.

2022 has been a doubly tragic year for Nazareth, which on July 5 lost Manny Charlton, the Cádiz-born musician who was its guitarist, one of its main composers and also the producer of the ensemble’s golden years.
