Helen Smart, a woman with multiple personalities as a leader, head teacher, mother, wife, friend, and Olympian, died unexpectedly, leaving behind everyone in deep pain and shock.
Helen’s death was announced through social media by Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band in a post that remarks:
“As an organization, we are heartbroken to inform you of the passing of Helen Smart (Don-Duncan.)
Helen was our 2nd Euphonium player in the B Band and was a member of the organization alongside her brother, Robert, and Dad, John, for over 30 years.
Helen was an inspirational Player, Head Teacher, Mother, Wife, Friend, Olympian & Champion.
She was and always will be an integral part of the Pemberton Organisation, and we are heartbroken to share this news.
Our thoughts and love are now with Craig, Heidi, Stanley, John, Linda, Robert, and the wider family.”

Helen had a fantastic time and memories with Pemberton Organization. She had a love for music that was contagious to everyone in the B Band, where she played 2nd Euphonium.

Her passion for education and fostering young minds’ development was evident in how she carried out her duties as a head teacher.
She exhibited the spirit of a champion on the playing field of competition or during musical performances, demonstrating her will to overcome obstacles and come out on top.
She exuded love, caring, and commitment as a wife and mother, encouraging and helping her family.
Helen’s accomplishments went even further because she demonstrated that she was a remarkable athlete. Her participation in the Olympics demonstrated her dedication, discipline, and ambition.
