Greg Francis Death: Obituary, Cause Of Death, Funeral

Greg Francis, the coach of Canada Basketball, has unfortunately passed away. On Sunday, April 2, 2023, his death was officially declared. Author and publicist Dalton Higgins, who is located in Canada, broke the news of his passing through a social media post.

Greg formerly attended the public high school Oakwood Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The specific reason for Gre Francis’s death is not made public because the circumstances surrounding his demise are unknown. Everyone has already begun to miss him and offer him respect and gratitude.

Greg Francis, the head of game development for Ontario Basketball, was born on April 4, 1974, in Toronto, Ontario. He formerly held the head teacher position for the College of Alberta Golden Bears, College of Waterloo Warriors, and College of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks. He succeeded Don Horwood, who had been the Bears’ bench coach for 26 years.

He previously led the men’s excessive-performance program for Canada Basketball. Francis also held positions as head coach of the Canadian junior men’s national team, assistant coach of the Canadian senior men’s national team, and national coach for men’s basketball in Canada.

Many may recognize Greg from his time working as a trainer at Canada Basketball and other Canadian companies. Even though I haven’t seen Greg in a while, I have some fantastic and unique basketball anecdotes to share. Because of Greg’s early talent, older Oakwood players invited him to participate in OFSAA the year we won the bronze medal.

Because there was no prep basketball circuit back then, only the top basketball players played. But a few years later, he helped guide Oakwood to the OFSAA title alongside O’Neil Kamaka, Geary Tomlinson, and others.
