The incident involved a 2023 Chevy Corvette driven by a 22-year-old woman named Jianna Pischetola. According to local authorities, around 11 p.m., Pischetola was travelling east on the motorway when she lost control of the sports car and crashed into a railing near Clove Road.
The impact caused the Corvette to overturn and collide with a 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck in the middle lane. As a result of the collision, the Corvette skidded along the pavement before finally stopping in the high-occupancy vehicle lane. Tragically, both young women in the Corvette lost their lives in the accident.
Gabriella Shammas, a 22-year-old passenger, was tragically ejected from the car when she sat in the shotgun position. Emergency personnel tried to save both women but were both declared dead at the scene. Investigations are still being conducted to determine precisely what happened to cause the loss of control and subsequent accident with the railing.
Authorities have not yet revealed if speed played a part in the collision. Fortunately, neither the pickup truck’s driver nor its two occupants suffered any severe injuries due to the crash.
