On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Regan Giesinger, MD, BScH, FRCPC, a clinical associate professor of paediatrics in the University of Iowa’s Division of Neonatology, she was passed away unexpectedly.
The University of Iowa AirCare shared the sad news of her passing on Facebook, saying:
“Today, we mourn the loss of Dr. Regan Giesinger.
Dr Giesinger began her career in medicine in Canada, completing her paediatrics residency and her neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship. After accepting a position at the University of Iowa, she moved to Iowa and made a name for herself in neonatal hemodynamics. Dr Giesinger made a significant contribution as a Medical Director for our AirCare neonatal and pediatric transport team, sharing her expertise and passion for education. Please keep her family, friends and colleagues in your thoughts during this difficult time.”
Although her death’s exact reason remains unknown, the family may shortly give details about the funeral ceremonies.
As soon as people learned of Dr Regan’s passing, they were shocked and heartbroken and began posting tributes and condolences to her on social media.
About Dr. Regan Giesinger:
Regan Giesinger was a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology at the University of Iowa, where she is the Director of the Neonatal Hemodynamics Clinical and Training programs.
She was also Secretary of the Pan-American Hemodynamics Collaborative and a member of the Executive Committee of the Neonatal Hemodynamics Special Interest Group at the American Society for Echocardiography.
Research Interest:
Her scientific interests were newborns with perinatal hypoxic-ischemic damage, neonates with critical illness, and the link between cardiovascular and brain outcomes.
