A resident of Mumbai, Maharashtra, Dr. Akshaya Madhukar Pawaskar,38, a medical officer employed at the leading health institution in Shiroda, was found dead in her room on Tuesday evening.
The cause behind her demise is unknown; the post-mortem will help identify the cause of her death.
Dr. Pawaskar’s death was reported to Shiroda PHC at approximately 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Ponda police.
A police officer arrived at the scene quickly and started an investigation.
Dr. Pawaskar was on duty that night, and according to the police, she attended to several patients before going to her room to rest.
When the nurses attempted to reach her later for a medical check-up of some recently arrived patients, they didn’t find her. When they searched the doctor’s room, they discovered Dr. Pawaskar dead on her bed.
Police reported that when they checked, she was dead. The body was given to the family after being taken for an autopsy.
Dr. Akshaya was a committed and diligent medical professional who oversaw the Shiroda COVID hospital throughout the difficult pandemic years.

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Dr. Akshaya Pawaskar, a young medical officer who collapsed while on duty,” stated Health Minister Vishwjit Rane.
