It’s a depressing day for Soilwork. The heartbreaking news of David Andersson’s passing was announced by the Swedish melodic death metal bandon Wednesday, September 14. He was 47. The band member was also a practising doctor outside the band, and they expressed their “great sadness” at his passing in a memorial on their social media pages.
Soilwork commented, “We are extremely heartbroken tonight.” “He was a remarkable man who stood out from the crowd in so many respects. He served as our guitarist for over ten years and significantly influenced Soilwork’s musical development.
Andresson was tragically taken from us by alcohol and mental disease. We will all miss him terribly and keep up the musical legacy he helped create.

Andersson played with Soilwork between 2012 and 2022. Andersson, who had previously joined Gang Of Old Ladies, had also played with The Night Flight Orchestra since 2007.
After officially joining the band as a co-guitarist, he played on all four of Soilwork’s most recent albums. He was also a part of the Swedish hard-rock group The Night Flight Orchestra since 2007, playing alongside Sharlee D’Angelo, the bassist for Arch Enemy, and other Soilwork members.
He was unique and intelligent in many different ways. He served as a guitarist for over ten years and significantly influenced SOILWORK’s musical development.
On August 19 via Nuclear Blast, Soilwork released their brand-new album, “vergivenheten.” The album’s highest position on the Swedish Albums Chart was No. 29. It is the group’s twelfth studio album. It is currently the final to feature David Andersson’s playing on the guitar.
