A man from Macomb Township passed away during a crash with a power pole in northern Macomb County on Tuesday. Everyone is heartbroken and mourning over Daniel’s death.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office claims that Daniel Evola, 34, crashed into a pole on Romeo Plank Road in Ray Township while attempting to pass a box truck. He had been kept inside the Corvette while live wires had been severed earlier. According to the driver of the box truck and a different witness, the Corvette appeared to lose control, spin out, and hit the utility pole as it attempted to overtake the box truck on southbound Romeo Plank, said Sgt. Renee Yax.
In Clinton Township, Evola worked at Giovanni Bakery. According to acquaintances, his wife, who is currently carrying their first child, and three children are left behind.
The horrible accident happened on Romeo Plank, north of 26 Mile Road, around 1:30 on Tuesday. Deputies responding to 911 calls found the highly damaged Corvette wrapped around a power pole. Evola was having respiratory problems while driving, according to Yax.
The utility cops allegedly lost control as the box truck stopped behind the Corvette, causing the transformer to crash through the box truck’s windshield.
The truck driver was identified as a 52-year-old Utica awake and cognizant resident. He declined medical attention. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the utility pole’s live wires fell near the Corvette, obstructing emergency personnel’s access to Evola.
Firefighters cut the cables, which allowed them to remove Evola from the vehicle. After being transported to a nearby hospital, he was later pronounced dead.
After arriving at the scene, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Crash Team started their investigation. Deputies claim they stopped the road for several hours while DTE restored the power pole and completed the study.
