Rossiter, a member of the Monsignor Farrell class of 2018, was a terrific teammate who was consistently cheerful, friendly, and well-liked. He was a former top defenseman for the Monsignor Farrell Hockey Team and a well-known player in the Staten Island hockey scene.
Police sources claim that the young officer, a retired NYPD sergeant found by his father, was hired by the agency in October 2021 and worked midnight shifts. His father claims that his son was in good health when he entered his bedroom. However, when he heard a gunshot, he raced into the room and discovered his son had been fatally shot.
According to the sources, the departed officer was employed by the 60th Precinct, which includes Coney Island, Brighton Beach, West Brighton Beach, and Sea Gate.
Rossiter’s collegiate fraternity, Kappa Sigma Rho-Sigma, acknowledged him on Facebook on Thursday.
According to sources, the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Division is still looking into the event, and they believe there is no proof the cops did anything improper. “After the incident, I reached out to the police who were involved,” said ex-cop Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday. “I just know that after an encounter like that of wonderful people, you know what officers can go through.”
Police Officer Colin Rossiter’s passing “devastated the Monsignor Farrell High School community,” according to Farrell President Lou Tobacco.
