Christine McVie, vocalist, and keyboardist for Fleetwood Mac, passed away this Wednesday, November 30 at the age of 79 after a short illness. The news was communicated on the band’s social networks, from where they requested privacy for her family at this time.
On Twitter, the band elaborated with an emotional message: ” There are no words to describe our sadness over the death of Christine McVie. She was truly unique, special, and talented beyond belief. McVie was born in Lancashire in the United Kingdom and joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970. She was part of the group until 1998, when she voluntarily retired, before returning in 2014. As a solo artist, she released three albums: Christine Perfect (1970), Christine McVie (1984), and In the Meantime (2004). In 2017 she released an album with her bandmate Lindsey Buckingham called simply Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie.
McVie’s death comes two years after the group’s co-founder Peter Green died at the age of 73.
