Carlos Alberto De Oliveira Andrade Dies At 77 Years Old

One of the greatest businessmen in the country, from Paraíba, died in the house where he lived with his family, in São Paulo. According to the company, he was in poor health.

Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade, founder of the Caoa group and one of the greatest businessmen in the country, died at the age of 77 in the early hours of this Saturday (14), in São Paulo . In a statement, Caoa said that “Dr. Carlos was in poor health due to health treatment and died in his sleep with his wife and children” (read in full at the end of this article) .

Andrade was born on November 25, 1943, in Paraíba. In addition to being a businessman, he was a surgeon specializing in abdominal surgery. He leaves behind a wife and four children, two men and two women.

The wake should take place this Saturday afternoon, in São Paulo, at the Morumbi cemetery.

According to Caoa, the company will continue to be managed by its current executives.

The governor of São Paulo, João Doria, lamented the death of the businessman.

“With great regret, I received the news of the death of my friend Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade, founder of the Caoa group, one of the biggest businessmen in the country and generator of jobs. My feelings to the family in this moment of pain,” he said.

Trajectory

Activities in the automotive sector began in 1979 when Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade acquired a Ford Landau at the Ford dealership in Campina Grande. But the dealership went bankrupt and he proposed to take over the business in exchange for paying for the vehicle.

In the following decade, Caoa became the biggest retailer of the brand in Brazil. In 1992, it became the official importer of the Renault brand in the country and, in 1998, of Subaru.

In 1999, the partnership with Hyundai began, which made the brand expand throughout the country. In 2007, it inaugurated the assembler’s first factory in the country, in Anápolis (GO) .

In 2017, Caoa closed a partnership with the Chinese Chery for the production and distribution of cars in Latin America.

Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade received the 2019 executive award from AutoEsporte magazine.
