The crash details were provided by the Louisiana State Police, which states:

Police started looking into a three-vehicle collision on LA 64 near LA 1019 in Livingston Parish shortly after 2:15 p.m.

Caleb Easterling, a Denham Springs resident who was 19 years old, passed away due to the collision. According to the preliminary inquiry, Baton Rouge resident William Cokes, 49, was operating a 1998 Dodge Dakota traveling east on LA 64.

Easterling was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 and was moving west on LA 64 at the same moment. Cokes crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and slammed with the F-150 from the front. In addition, the F-150’s rear end collided with a 2015 Dodge Charger traveling west on LA 64.

Easterling, unbound at the time of the collision, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital by air ambulance.

Later, he died from his wounds and was declared dead at the hospital. The Dakota and Charger’s drivers, who were safely secured, suffered moderate to serious injuries in the collision; the accident is still being investigated.

Tributes:

“Casey and Becky

I dont know what to say or where to begin. My heart hurts so so bad for you guys. Caleb was taken way too early.

He was so close to so many teammates and students. He was praying for both of you and Caleb. His heart was so kind.

I remember when you trusted him with us at Central. Forever grateful to have had a chance to know him and be involved with him as his coach. What an awesome son you guys raised. God will love having him in heaven. As a coach, I often remind myself to coach every young man as if he is your SON. I hope I did him justice in that way.

Caleb Easterling

We will see you again.”
