Bill Schurman, a former executive director of the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce, lost his battle with cancer and unfortunately passed away.
He was officially pronounced dead on Friday, April 21, 2023. He passed away, leaving behind a bereaved, startled, devastated family, friends, and loved ones who will miss him forever. All who knew him will sincerely miss him.
The obituary’s specifics may be announced in the future. When others learn of his passing, they are saddened and appalled; they pray for his afterlife and give him their condolences.
As director of community services and recreation, Bill significantly improved Summerside. Over the years, Summerside has placed several bids for events, but two stand out: the 1992 World Softball Championship bid in Salt Lake City and the 1995 Royal Bank Cup bid in Winnipeg.
During the global competition, the World Softball Federation’s most lucrative tournament was conducted in Summerside in 1994.
The Federation congratulated Bill for helping the World event run well. Bill also did a great job on the 1995 Royal Bank Cup bid in Winnipeg, and we were able to plan the Event before we left Winnipeg.
