According to the club, a former rugby player from Yorkshire has sadly passed away at the young age of 33.

Former player Ben Heaton departed unexpectedly on June 22, the Halifax Panthers said in a heartbreaking Facebook statement.

In a statement released today, the club acknowledged the breaking news and noted that he had been there for seven years.

Ben Heaton’s actual cause of death is currently unknown, but some sources indicate that he was killed in a car accident, though this has not been verified.

According to the officials, the funeral plans would be made public later.

About Ben Heaton:

Ben was a rugby league football player who played as a centre, second row, or fullback for Oldham (Heritage No. 1249) in the RFL Championship. On March 12, 1990, he was born.

While out on loan, Heaton has participated in matches with Oldham, Halifax in the Betfred Championship, and Batley Bulldogs. On September 30, 2020, he was rumoured to have joined Oldham in the RFL Championship.

Heaton resided in Wigan while attending Hopwood Hall College. He was a Rochdale native. On the field, he was a warrior; off it, he was a true gentleman.
