Ava Woods, a 14-year-old girl student at Baldwinsville’s Durgee Junior High School, tragically and unexpectedly passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Around six in the morning, a shooting event occurred alongside her, leaving her dead from the gunshot. Christopher Wood, his father, age 51, was also discovered dead. The only survivor of Ava, her mother, who announced the devastating news of the death of his daughter and spouse on Friday afternoon.
As the news circulated on Friday, classes essentially stopped. Parents reported seeing Ava’s classmates and friends weeping as they sat at lunch tables. Families and students gathered up for the weekend-long grief therapy session.
There are no specifics provided about the funeral services. Everyone remembers her, misses her, and expresses sympathy for her on social media.
“Woods, Ava We all miss you so badly, and we shall all miss you so much. Rest in peace; you were the best buddy anyone could wish for.”
“Stubbmann remarked, “She always, always tried hard.” She was self-driven and competitive. Despite her natural talent, she preferred to work hard.”
Ava loved to run and was the team’s quickest girl. Tiffany Stubbmann, Ava’s track coach. “I relied entirely on Ava. Ava would act if I told her to. She possessed an unmatched work ethic, was driven and was self-motivated. She was swift as well.
Ava was the top scorer in the 200-meter sprint and 400-meter run and finished first in almost all of her competitions. According to Stubbmann, she could complete 400 metres in 68 seconds and 200 metres in roughly 28 seconds. She once placed second and was disappointed, but she said it motivated her to work even harder the following time.
She excelled academically and was a track and field athlete. Ava put forward the same amount of effort in her academic work as she did in her athletic pursuits, according to Stubbmann’s analysis of her report cards.
