A beloved young adult who attended Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and was a member of the Rochester Community Schools passed away unexpectedly, leaving the Rochester, Michigan community in shock.
Ava Smith, 16, tragically passed away suddenly. On July 13, 2023, the Rochester Hills teenager was declared dead. The entire family and school community are devastated by the loss of the high school athletes, who were also many people’s friends.

At the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Boulevard, Rochester, MI 48307, on JULY 18, a visitation will occur from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral at 1:00 p.m. and onward.

Ava was a highly talented interior designer who eagerly explored the field professionally and in her spare time. She loved having adventures, caring for her garden, and performing yard work in her free time. Spending time with her family, though, was what she cherished doing the most.
