On Monday, July 24, 2023, Ashton Smith, the renowned catcher for the Thrillville Thrillbillies, departed away.
They announced Ashton Smith’s passing on their Facebook page. Smith, who hails from Du Quoin, Illinois, served as the team’s catcher and club captain.
The Thrillbillies described Ashton as “beloved and respected by his Thrillbillie teammates.”
The game tonight has been cancelled in honour of Ashton Smith in light of his passing.
His loved ones are unaware of the circumstances that led to his death because they are not made public.
No information was given regarding the funeral and burial customs; may his family come forward soon.
In Du Quoin, Illinois, Ashton Smith was born and loved, and it was here that he developed a lifelong passion for baseball. As he advanced through high school, scouts and coaches took notice of his outstanding talent and commitment to the game.
After graduating from Du Quoin High School, Ashton Smith attended Bellarmine University for his higher studies. He was able to hone his abilities as a catcher and a team leader during his time at the university.

Ashton was loved by so many of you & touched many of our lives. If you’re able to, our family would greatly appreciate any help to relieve the financial stress Ashton’s parents are facing during this time. This will help contribute to the funds towards Ashton’s services to come. Please continue to pray for our family, as they are much needed.”
