Ariel Griffin’s Killer Found Dead in Georgia: Authorities Provide Limited Details

Authorities used unspecific terms to announce the death of a guy who fled and crossed state borders after shooting and killing his baby’s mother.

Police in Williston, Florida, have reported that 31-year-old Jonathon Jerome Segar was shot and murdered in Georgia.

According to reports, Segar left the city in central Florida after killing Ariel Griffin, 30, with whom he had a kid. On Monday night, Segar was located by law authorities.

On Monday, Williston Police Chief Mike Rolls confusingly conveyed the information.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Monday, he added, The person responsible has been found and is no longer a threat to the public or the victim’s family, thanks to the dedicated help of other law enforcement agencies. Information will be made public as it becomes available. At this time, kindly keep this family in your prayers and thoughts.

Segar was shot in Georgia, according to Rolls, who informed WCJB. The lawman didn’t detail who fired the shot or the immediate circumstances surrounding Segar’s death.

According to Rolls’ Facebook post, police were called to Monterey Boats in Willison at 5:17 a.m. on Monday due to a shooting. They discovered Griffin dead from a gunshot wound and named her ex, Segar, the suspect. According to the chief, there is strong evidence for premeditated murder and criminal felons possessing a firearm.

Segar and the victim were formerly intimate, according to Rolls. Segar was last seen driving a Chevrolet pickup with blue and yellow graphics advertising “DGD” Discount Garage Doors, according to the police chief. He said Segar, who was considered armed and dangerous, had left before they arrived. They believed he was no longer in Levy County, which led to a search.

At the time, Rolls wrote, “Message to the suspect.” We’re coming, so turn yourself in or keep looking over your shoulder.
