After his kayak capsized, Aaron Lewis, 43, lost his life in a sad drowning incident in Lake Aberdeen on June 10, 2023. Aaron was a cherished man.
Incident details:
The unfortunate incident occurred in the early morning; law enforcement officials arrived at the site around 8:20 am. Aaron was found not to be wearing a life jacket by the police.
Emergency dispatch called for Hoquiam police at 8:22 am to try to save 43-year-old Aaron Lewis. According to the report, the kayak overturned about 100 yards from the boat launch on the lake’s western side.
After being seen struggling to swim and drag the kayak back to land, Lewis was “observed trying to swim and pull the kayak back to shore before drowning.”
After the Aberdeen Fire Department and the Greys Harbour County Sheriff’s Department had already responded, Aberdeen police officers arrived on the scene.
At 8:34 a.m., the GHSO maritime section was contacted for help after the Aberdeen Police Department stationed the drone.
The GHSO marine team sent out their boat to search for Lewis, according to the press release, but despite the assistance of the numerous emergency services, they could not find him.
To help hunt the missing individual, authorities asked the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office Dive Rescue team for assistance. The diving team responded on Saturday evening at about seven o’clock and found Lewis.
According to the report, Lewis’ body was found in the ocean and brought to the coroner’s office in Greys Harbour County. The department was able to identify him.
