Actress Cloris Leachman Dies At 94

Actress Cloris Leachman has died at the age of 94, US media confirmed on Wednesday. 

According to TMZ, Cloris Leachman died of natural causes Tuesday night at her home in Encinitas, California, United States. 

“She had the best life from start to finish that you could wish for someone,” her daughter Dinah told TMZ . She adds that she was at peace and “left everyone with a lot of love.” 

“It has been a privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most intrepid actresses of our time,” said Juliet Green, her longtime manager. “There was no one like Chloris. With just one look she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh until tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her incomparable magic. “

Cloris Leachman was an American actress and comedian, who won eight Primetime Emmys, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe. 

Lechman was featured in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and in the film The Last Picture Show. She also appeared in three Mel Brooks films, including the hit Young Frankenstein, and the popular Super School of Heroes.

Leachman won an Oscar for supporting actress on “The Last Picture Show.” He would later reprise the role in the less successful movie sequel “Texasville.” Both films were based on the writings of Larry McMurtry.

One of her most endearing roles was in the comedy Malcolm in the Middle , where Leachman played Grandma Ida Welker, Lois’s mother. Her role as an antagonist was widely accepted by critics.

In “Malcolm” she appeared from 2001 to 2006 as Grandma Ida and won several Emmy nominations.

She also voiced the animated films “Beavis and Butthead,” “A Troll in Central Park,” and the 2008 English version of the anime “Ponyo,” as well as “The Simpsons.”

Leachman was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2011.
