The championship made it official that Rouse lost his life through a statement.
Unfortunately motorcycling has its risks, and Chrissy Rouse has been another victim of bad luck at the handlebars. At just 26 years old, she has passed away after spending several days in the hospital trying to recover from a heavy crash in the British Superbike Championship last weekend. Without a doubt, it is another loss that hurts within many and unfortunately those that could come over time, since in motorcycling you never know and what is known for sure is that it is a risky sport.
It was on this last date that Rouse crashed at turn 3 at Donington Park, the track where WorldSBK normally competes on its stop in England. Already on the ground due to the fall, Rouse was hit by the motorcycle of a classmate, hitting him in the head and causing the injuries that have led to his death.
The 26-year-old went down in the opening stages of Sunday’s test and was run over by another competitor. The race was immediately stopped and he was taken to the track clinic with severe head injuries. From there he was evacuated to the Queens Medical Center hospital in Nottingham. There he remained in an induced coma, but despite undergoing surgery he was unable to overcome the injuries and died today surrounded by his family and friends.
Words from the British Superbike Championship in the statement: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that Chrissy Rouse, 26, from Newcastle upon Tyne, succumbed to her injuries and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in hospital this afternoon.”
On behalf of Chrissy’s family, they would like to convey their deep appreciation for the support and well wishes they have received over the past few days. They also want to thank all the stewards and medical services who provided so much skill and care in caring for Chrissy, “they concluded the statement.
