Josh Neuman Died

Tragic news coming from Iceland. A small plane has crashed into Lake Thingvallavatn, the second largest in Iceland, leaving four fatalities. The authorities have informed this Monday of who was on board and of the failed attempt by the emergency teams to recover the bodies due to bad weather conditions.

The alerts were activated on Thursday when the Cessna 172 aircraft issued the danger signal and subsequently disappeared from radar. Up to 1,000 members of the Icelandic emergency teams began the search for the ship, which culminated on Saturday in the aforementioned lake, about 50 kilometers from the capital, Reykjavík. An autonomous submarine with sonar technology confirmed the presence of four bodies at the bottom of the lake.

The purpose of the flight was apparently to create commercial content for the Belgian fashion brand Suspicious Antwerp. Thus, onboard was the person in charge of sponsorships of the ensign, Tim Alings (27 years old); Belgian skydiver and influencer Nicola Bellavia (32 years old); the pilot and pioneer of photographic tours Haraldur Diego (49 years old); and the YouTuber and downhill longboard star Josh Neuman (22 years old).

The latter was the most famous of them all. He had started skating at 12 and just 10 years later he had accumulated 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube thanks to his longboard downhill videos. In As Action we had already seen him on more than one occasion, for example facing a cyclist on a descent down a mountain. Or just two weeks ago, to give another example, he published a clip claiming that he had reached more speed than ever in the Austrian Alps: 112 kilometers per hour.

The Icelandic authorities themselves have also explained that the victims did not die in the accident itself, but that it was the low temperatures of the water (and outside the water) that ended up sending their bodies to the bottom of the lake. A fund from which none of the bodies have been recovered. According to reports, some have reached a depth of 48 meters and, due to weather conditions, it is impossible for divers to recover them right now.
