Pascual González and Cantores de Hípalis , the group’s official name since 2000, announced on Tuesday the cancellation of their ‘Cristo, Pasión y Esperanza’ tour due to González’s health.

Pascual González, singer, composer, and founder of the group Cantores de Híspalis, passed away this Sunday due to cancer he had been suffering from for a few years and which led to his announcing on February 1 the cancellation of the national tour of the show Cristo, Pasión y Hope.

According to sources close to the group, the death occurred five days after the group canceled the national tour that was going to cover twenty stages.

The founder of Cantores de Híspalis  and composer of almost a thousand works of different musical genres received the award for the best European Production of 1988 in Düsseldorf . Pascual González (Seville, 1950) wrote songs for Paloma San Basilio , Massiel, Dúo Dinámico , Romero Sanjuán.

Pascual González and Cantores de Híspalis announced a few days ago the suspension of all their performances scheduled for next Lent, after having held some of their postponed concerts last fall. The cancellation affected all the concerts of the tour, such as the one on March 26 in Linares (Jaén) or April 4 in Alhaurín el Grande (Málaga).

Christ, Passion and Hope is an Andalusian concert-opera that narrates the life of Jesus Christ in a musical, audiovisual, and lyrical language, through a libretto “made through the sum or fusion of liturgical drama, sacred processional music, popular culture, folklore, and tradition”.

The tour of last Lent already had to be suspended due to the worst data of the pandemic, and some of his concerts were recovered during the fall.
