After the death last Saturday of the young Jason Aguilar, on Monday night it was announced that Jakub Gurecky, 16 years old and champion of the Northern Talent Cup, has died due to injuries sustained in a training with a minimoto.

Gurecky, current champion of that competition, was preparing to make his debut in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. He did so at the Ohvale minimoto circuit, where he lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, where a serious brain injury was detected. Despite the fact that the doctors did everything possible to try to save his life, this Monday night his death was certified.

Gurecky, 16, had been the ruler of the Northern Talent Cup, where he claimed four wins, two second places, and three third places on the JRT Brno Circuit team’s KTM, and qualified for the 2022 Red Bull Rookies Cup.

A great promise of motorcycling, Gurecky shone in 2021 to win that Northern Talent Cup, a triumph that opened the doors for him to the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. In this category, he aspired to go one step further to reach the Moto3 World Championship.

Gurecky is the fourth young rider to die in the last eight months after 19-year-old Swiss Jason Dupasquier crashed and run over during Moto3 qualifying at the Mugello GP at the end of May. Then came the death of 14-year-old Hugo Millán, also invested in the European Talent Cup race in Aragon while at the end of September 15-year-old Dean Berta Viñales, cousin of MotoGP rider Maverick Viñales, had lost his life during the Supersport World Championship round. 300 in Jerez.
