Boxingscene.com confirms the passing of the respected family trainer, who guided his own son dies today.

According to our reports and online information regarding Gary Russel’s death which is circulating the whole internet, Gary Russel’s cause of death is diabetes. He battled two types of diabetes in a year.

In January, when Russel was preparing for his upcoming fight against the champion Mark Magsayo. Russell Jr revealed his father and lifelong trainer got his feet amputated due to complications from diabetes. 

He was so unwell that he was unable to attend his son’s training sessions in Washington D.C.

“He felt like he missed enough time in the training camp, and he wants to dedicate the rest of whatever he does have to me and to the rest of this camp. You know, I’m grateful for that. It means a lot to me. And once again, we use it all as fuel.” 

Russell Sr trained all of his three songs in their professional career. 

Saddened to hear of the passing of Gary Russell Sr., who died just days after his 63rd birthday. Gary Sr. battled Type 2 diabetes for years & was forced to have his leg amputated last December.
