Ricky Martin Calls “State Of Terror” To The Murder Of Women In Puerto Rico.

San Juan, May 4.- The Puerto Rican artist Ricky Martin has described as “a state of terror” the recent murders of two women in Puerto Rico that have provoked the outrage of the people for the sum of cases of sexist violence in the Island.

The two recent murders that have marked the public are that of Andrea Ruiz, found half-burned on Thursday in Cayey (center) by her ex-partner and who had recently requested a protection order, which was denied, and that of Keishla Rodríguez, found dead in a lagoon in San Juan and whose main suspect is boxer Félix Verdejo.

“What has been experienced on our Island in recent days with the murder of two women, Andrea and Keishla, among another twenty deaths this year, also due to gender violence, is a state of terror,” said Martin in a letter. which he posted on his Twitter account.

At the moment, at least 14 women have died this year in Puerto Rico from sexist violence.

Faced with all these cases, Martin acknowledged that “fear, frustration, pain, indignation are perceived … and it is a product of the terror caused by knowing that another woman dies a victim of femicide, a crime that seems to normalize every day. more without taking equally dramatic actions to stop them. ”

“No woman should go through fear for her safety, and if it happens, have all the tools in her favor to denounce any act that threatens her life, however minimal,” said the artist.

The Puerto Rican singer also recommended that “whoever knows that a woman is in danger, be it physically or emotionally, also has to take action.”

“We have to act to be part of the solution, and that goes from what we teach at home and at school,” he emphasized.
