Doctors are investigating the direct cause of death
Alicia Robledo Benavente, also known as Malicia, founded the group La Grecas in 2007. Last Monday night she died at 67 at her home in San Blás in Madrid.
Apparently she had undergone liposuction nine days ago and did not suffer from any previous illness, according to El Mundo after consulting medical sources close to the deceased.
It was the relatives themselves who notified the emergency services. When the ambulance arrived they couldn’t do much more than confirm the death.
There is still no kind of autopsy result. But according to El Mundo reports, doctors have taken samples to investigate whether there is any relationship between cosmetic surgery and death.
Las Grecas was a musical duo that achieved great success in Spain in the 70s and was made up of two sisters, Tina and Carmela.
In 1979 they broke up and put music aside. Until at the beginning of the 90’s, Carmela decided to resume the duo with Malicia. But this formation only lasted three years, since the original member decided to retire permanently after the death of Tina in 1997.
However, Malicia did not give up and was the one who re-founded the duo in 2007. She recovered the rights to the name “Las Grecas” and in 2009 she published an album, together with a new singer, Nani.
Together they recorded several albums until Alicia decided to continue alone, although using the duo’s name. Her last years of her career were promoted as “Malicia de Las Grecas”.
