The dubbing guild is in mourning after the sensitive death of Luis Marín who, according to a statement from the union of dubbing artists in Spain; he passed away yesterday (February 14, 2022) at the age of 90. The cause of death has not been confirmed.

Although his voice may go unnoticed by the Latin American public, the truth is that Luis Marín is one of the inseparable elements of ‘The Simpsons’, which is why his death has saddened all Springfield fans alike.

It was during the first 23 seasons of the program (from 1990 to 2013) that Marín played various characters from ‘The Simpsons’, highlighting “Barney Gumble”, in addition to “Willie”; “Hans Mole”; “Fat Tony”; “Snakes”; The doctor. Hibber” and “Rainier Wulfcastle”, among others.

Although his most recognized work was certainly as a dubbing actor for ‘The Simpsons’, the truth is that Luis Marín ‘s work in Spain was not limited to that and encompassed many more productions. In the animated field, he participated in ‘Futurama’, ‘South Park’ and ‘ Family Guy’; while in the live-action sector, he did the same in such important productions as ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘The Prince of Bel-Air’ and ‘Power Rangers’, among others.

Luis Marín was born in Madrid in January  1932. He gained enormous recognition as a dubbing actor, but during his career, he also had time to get in front of the cameras. He made his debut with ‘El indulto’ , by José Luis Sáenz de Heredia , in  1960 , and would later participate in ‘El strange voyage’ by Fernando Fernán Góme z , ‘El caso Almería’ or ‘El Lute: walk or blow’.
