Comedian And Leader Of Transformism Xayo Dies At 68

The transformist from Gran Canaria Pedro Eugenio Moreno, better known as Xayo, was found dead this Wednesday at his home in the Guanarteme neighborhood, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The causes of his death are unknown, reports the Canarian newspaper ‘La Provincia’, of the Prensa Ibérica group.

Xayo could have died several days ago since his body has been found in a state of decomposition. It was the neighbors who warned of the bad smell that came out of their home, sources from the National Police have reported. Members of the Judicial and Scientific Police have traveled to the home to investigate the events, although, in principle, violent death is not considered.

Born in Santa María de Guía (Gran Canaria), he had been in the world of transformism since 1977. Xayo visited the stage of ‘Got Talent 5’ in 2019 to pay “a tribute to himself, his life and his work”.

The reactions to the unexpected loss of Xayo have not been long in coming. The mayor of Santa María de Guía , Pedro Rodríguez, has said goodbye to the transformer on his Twitter account. “Goodbye Xayo, you will always be our golden pass !!!” Rodríguez offered his condolences to his family and in particular to his sisters, Dora and Paca.

Rodríguez stressed that “he always carried the name of Guía with pride wherever he went, with his extraordinary talent and his enthusiasm for life.”
