Tina Burnside’s body has been discovered, and her ex-husband has been arrested, says police.
Authorities discovered the human remains in a remote California location of a mother who went missing on Thursday after a “significant amount of blood” was discovered in her home.
According to a news release from the Simi Valley Police Department, the remains of Rachel Castillo, 25, were discovered in Los Angeles County’s Antelope Valley, and her ex-husband has been apprehended.
According to Emily Castillo of ABC7 Los Angeles, “I knew something wasn’t right as soon as I saw the blood.” I then called 911 right away after calling my mother to ask her to come over.
On November 10, her sister returned home to find “evidence that a struggle occurred inside,” according to Simi Valley police. Despite Castillo being missing, her personal items, such as her phone and car keys, were still at the apartment, according to the police.
The release states, “Officers suspected that a crime involving serious injury occurred based on evidence at the scene.” Since then, detectives have been actively pursuing the case’s lead and trying to find Rachel.
The main suspect in the case is Castillo’s ex-husband, Zarbab Ali of Hawthorne, California, according to the police. Ali was detained on Sunday afternoon at his parent’s Victorville residence in connection with her homicide after the Antelope Valley remains were recognised as belonging to Castillo, according to authorities.
Before Rachel’s body was found, her mother, Robyn Castillo, spoke to CNN on Saturday. As a “really great mom to her sons, a good daughter, a good sister, and a good friend,” Robyn described her daughter, who had sons who were 5 and 2 years old.
We’re just taking it daily and moment by moment and helping police as much as we can, Robyn said, adding that it’s been very difficult.
