Her little brother’s name was Frederick. When she was three years old, her father suffered a heart attack and died. Although her mother was a successful designer, she struggled to support her family. They had a modest flat on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Tiffany aspired to become a lawyer like her father to follow in his ways. She worked hard in school and enrolled at Hunter College. She found it challenging to survive without her husband’s salary, though. Tiffany worked as a librarian for two years following her graduation from Hunter College before applying to medical schools. It was an unusual option at the time for a woman to wish to become a doctor. She eventually found success by taking on additional jobs and studying after hours to pass her tests.
Tiffany founded her practice in Queens Village with two other female doctors after graduating from medical school with honours. She became one of the first female doctors in New York City to specialize in internal medicine. Because they trusted that she would treat them well, her patients recommended her to others.
