James Young’s wife, Susan recently, died on November 10, 2022. James Young was a well-known musician most recognized for his work with the band Styx. On Friday, November 11, 2022, Styx announced her tragic death, saying: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news with you that Susan young passed away on November 10, 2022.
Although relatives surrounded her at the time of her death, neither the family nor the authorities commented on the factors that may have led to her cause of death. The funeral’s specifics have yet to be made public.
On social media, Susan Young has received tributes and condolences from everyone, including friends and relatives.
As the only surviving original American rock band Styx member, guitarist James Vincent Young is most known in his native country for his work with that group.
Young started learning how to play the piano and keyboard at age five. He studied clarinet and guitar at Chicago’s Calumet High School. Styx members and devoted fans gave him the moniker “J.Y.,” and he is frequently referred to as “The Godfather of Styx.”
Young eventually decided to start a new band, TW4, which would soon become Styx. He had previously played in many local bands, including the Catalinas and Monterey Hand. He had graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering.
The band formed with Dennis DeYoung as the lead singer, Chuck Panozzo on bass, John Curulewski on guitar and John Panozzo on drums. Curulewski left the band in 1975, which paved the way for Tommy Shaw to join and marked the beginning of the band’s most tremendous commercial success.
Young’s solo albums City Slicker (1985 with Jan Hammer), Out on a Day Pass (1988), and Raised by Wolves (1988) were all released following Styx’s original dissolution in 1984. (1995 with James Young Group).
For Styx, Young typically writes harder rock songs. His most well-known songs are “Miss America” and “Snowblind” by Styx. In 1998, Young co-managed the Chicago, Illinois-based rock band 7th Heaven with Bon Jovi’s Alec John Such.
