At the age of 27, he was handed the responsibilities. He was elected as Zambia’s first ambassador to Egypt. Moreover, he belongs to the generation of young people who have been active in Zambia’s anti-colonial movement.

At the age of 30, he moved to Washington as he was Zambia’s ambassador to the United States.

Rupiah Banda was the fourth president of Zambia(2008-2011) Before this, he was appointed as the vice president for the 2006 parliamentary elections. Levi Mwanawasa won, after his death in June 2008 he become the president.
