American Christian singer, songwriter, composer, preacher, voice actor, and personality Ronald Allen Hamilton,72, commonly known as “Patch the Pirate,” entered hospice care on April 16, 2023, and passed away at home on April 19, 2023, accompanied by his family.
Ron was given a dementia diagnosis back in 2017. The family will soon make a statement about the funeral arrangements.

On November 9, 1950, Ron Hamilton was born in Indiana. When he was younger, his mother encouraged him to pursue a musical education, and he unwillingly picked up the trombone, piano, and guitar.
His family sang together frequently when he was a little lad, and the kids were always encouraged to make up their parts to harmonise.
Hamilton, a serious composer of formal church music, never imagined he would end up performing for children while dressed as a captain of a ship and referring to scurvy and doubloons. But after losing an eye to cancer in 1978, kids started to think of him as a pirate, so he adopted the identity and sold many records.
Hamilton discovered a successful career that helped children once he began to trust in the winds that carried him.
Hamilton’s son committed suicide in 2013 after years of battling mental health problems. According to Ron Hamilton’s wife and musical partner, Shelly Hamilton, the family’s struggle with and acknowledgment of mental health challenges has reached individuals worldwide and opened new hearts to their teachings.
The Hamilton family owns and operates Majesty Music, a sheet music shop in a Greenville strip mall. They have produced hymns for years, including the well-known “Rejoice in the Lord” and albums.
They produce records for children and adults under the Patch the Pirate brand and as the Hamilton Family.
