Following a year at Lehigh, Carril was appointed the men’s basketball coach at Princeton in 1967. In 1996, he left his position as Princeton’s head coach, and the following year, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
After graduating from Princeton, Carril spent ten years as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings before retiring in 2006. Three years later, in 2007, Carril would make a final comeback as an assistant coach with the Kings for the entire season.
