Who was Nick Zapata?
Nicholas M. Zapata was a resident of Normal, Illinois, but initially, he hailed from Seattle, Washington, according to the information on her social media page. He proudly graduated from Normal Community West High School and was known for his involvement as a player on the Normal Community West Wildcats boy’s varsity football team.
Nick was a very beloved son to his parents, Robert Zapata and Elizabeth Bane, and very loving towards his siblings. He knew the art of making people happy and smiling wherever he went. He was a kind, passionate, humble young man.
What was the cause of death?
The Bloomington Police Department received a call about a possible stabbing in the 300 block of Kenmore, just east of the Southgate Estates Trailer Park. On the evening of September 23, 2023, around 10:10 p.m., after the arrival of police, they found a 19-year-old young man lying on the ground with serious injuries.
The young man was immediately shifted to the Carle Bromenn Medical Center emergency room by the Bloomington Fire Department. Despite many efforts, the young man, who was later found to be Nicholas M. Zapata, was declared dead at p.m. on the same night, 1 hour after the incident.
After an autopsy report, it was found that he had been stabbed multiple times in the chest. Further investigations are carried out regarding the incident.
Deputies and officers from the McLean County Sheriff’s Office and the Bloomington Police Department went to a rural area outside Heyworth, Illinois. They arrested a 16-year-old boy involved in the death of a young man. They caught him without any trouble. The teenage suspect was taken to the Bloomington Police Department for questioning and later moved to the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center. The charges will be disclosed later for the suspect.
