Melissa “Missy” Deroba was an alumnus of Millersville University and a PA campground lover. She was the prominent coach at the Gymnastics Center of Hershey for 25 years. Melissa tragically died on 7th November in a fatal auto accident. The incident spread the mourning situation around the community.
How did the accident happen?
The tragic accident occurred on 7th November at around 11:00 a.m. on westbound lanes of the highway near Roundtop Rd; it included a multi-vehicle collision in which two tractor-trailer trucks and a passenger car were involved.
Pennsylvania state police reported that the situation became more confusing when they reached the location as the fire engulfed the scene. The primary vehicle, the 2005 Ford Escape, was engulfed by the fire due to a forceful collision between other vehicles. The tractor-trailer rear-ended the car, which resulted in severe damage; however, the tractor-trailer was still moving and hit another vehicle, resulting in an extreme fire ignited.
The driver of a Gray 2005 Ford was identified as Melissa “Missy” Deroba and was declared dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer truck driver shifted to Hershey Medical Center.
The area around the westbound lanes was closed on the afternoon of the accident, which reopened at 4 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police Harrisburg Authority is investigating the matter and urging everyone with any related information for the incident to inform the police for a better investigation process.
