The San Luis Potosí prosecutor, José Luis Ruiz Contreras, reported that five more people were injured in the incident.
Potosi golfer Lidy Villalba de Heinz was shot to death in the municipality of Ojuelos, in Jalisco .
The events were recorded on Thursday night when the athlete was traveling in a truck with other people on the Ojuelos-San Luis Potosí highway.
The aggression occurred when an armed group intercepted them presumably to assault them, before the fact, the escorts of who was also a former PRI candidate for a federal deputation intervened shooting, Reforma said.
Lidy Villalba had participated in a tournament in Guadalajara and was on her way to San Luis Potosí.
The prosecutor of San Luis Potosí, José Luis Ruiz Contreras, reported that five more people were injured in the incident, who were transferred to the state capital and are already receiving medical attention.
“It was an unfortunate event where there is a woman who lost her life and five people were injured in an event that began in Ojuelos, Jalisco and ends in the territory of Zacatecas,” he said.
He added that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is carrying out investigations into the case and that the San Luis Potosí prosecutor’s office is collaborating in the investigations into what happened.
Ruiz Contreras commented that they are also working in coordination with the prosecutors of Jalisco and Zacatecas.
“The folder is made up of the FGR who finally processed the scene of the incident and also to lift the body that was left there and secure the truck that was involved,” he said.
The Mexican Women’s Golf Association mourned the death of Villalba de Heinz, former director of the AMFG.
